How to bolt in child restraint in 1990 Mitsubishi Lancer GLX
HI because of all the new laws out we are trying to bolt in a booster seat into a 1990 Mitsubishi Lancer GLX  Hatchback but we can not find where to screw the bolt into.

Any and all help for where to screw the bolt into would be hugely appreciated

Thank you

If its a hatch back you need an extension strap, its always safer to have the seat fitted, unless your anchor holes are in the back above the seats. 1990 models may not even have the 3 anchor points on the back.Marian

I had that car when I had my first child 11 yrs ago and from memory there was a bolt in the back dash. It could be that there is just a hole there and you need to put the bolt in yourself. Sorry I cant be of more help but it was so long ago and the brain doesnt' work so well since I had kids

Is there little round plastic circles on the back dash? They lift up to put the fittng in. Marian

Sorry to be harsh, but for your precious babies life
please get it fitted correctly and safely by an approved
registered/licensed motor mechanic.
I worked for a mechanic for 16 years and at the back
was a smash repairer, I've seen things that would make
a hard person buckle.....

Just think about it for a minute.....
If you don't do it right and you have an accident..
You can't bring baby back.....

I think you'll find that you need to get the bolt
from a mechanic......

Thank you klf for your input, but we have all the fittings which came with the seat. The only thing we are trying to find out before it goes to be checked over is where the bolt screws into. As we would prefer to find where the bolt is to be screwed into first before we have to pay someone for their time to find it for us.

We have googled to try and find out but all we found is that this type of car was not made to seat in child restraints and if this is so we will have to keep driving my car (as mine has already been fully fitted out) and we will have to up grade hubbies car

I of course drive a sedan myself!!!!!

It cost us $40 to have our babies car seat fitted.
The fitter then explained to my husband how to fit it correctly.

It was money well spent.

Some shires have "car restraint checking days", they are often free. You could contact your council to see if they provide this service.

Try under where the hatch closes.  I have a Pulsar hatch - different I know but you need an extension strap and it bolts into the back panel of the boot - behind the number plate but to the left or right depending which side you're putting it on.

Put it in yourself - easy enough to do but I'd still get the RAA, NRMA or whomever to check it over before you use it to make sure its tight enough etc.  Better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks everyone for your input but there is litterally no where to screw the bolts into. We had another look again today already. We did a google search this morning for licenced restraint fitters and they are just around the corner from us, we are going to see if they can properly put in a nut (as they drill a hole and weld them in) so we can then have the seats properly put into the car. Hubby has gone in my car to take the eldest to school this morning.. then we are going to see if we can sort it out  before my appointment!!

Again thanks everyone!!

cheers
and have a great day
