PayMate moves to the US of A

For all those people who recommend using PayMate, an Australian company:

Australian online-payment service Paymate appointed Garrett Gafke as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Dilip Rao, who will remain President of the company. Originally founded in Australia in 2000, Paymate's new global headquarters will move to California where Mr. Gafke is also based.

It will be interesting to see if GST will continue to be collected from Paymate fees unlike Paypal fees.

Aside from many members dislike of Paypal because it's owned by *bay, many feel that GST should be collected from the fees collected from Australian payments and paid to the Australian government.

Does that happen in B&M stores.

The man from eBay has been talking about divesting PayPal as well as Skype, not being "core business".

I think they will continue to pay GST as they are already a GST registered business in Australia. Like steve said at least they have an AFS licence.

Even though the company was founded here, I think it was probably always their intention to go global with it... so can't say I'm suprised they have set up shop in other countries.

All I can say is good on them.  They will now be able to increase their exposure globally and give PP a run for their money.  They are also now a legitimate and acceptable payment method on *bay.com so maybe one day soon the same will happen on *bay.com.au.

"many feel that GST should be collected from the fees collected from Australian payments and paid to the Australian government."

Who are these 'many'? And why haven't they been taking their medication?

"Paymate Global Inc. is a US company registered in the State of Delaware with offices in Woodside, CA and Sydney, Australia."

Doesn't that mean they are a US company?

So, were they ever an Australian company?

Or just a US company with an office here and people assumed they were an Australian company?
