Experienced Oztion sellers - please help!?!
I'm quite new to Oztion. I am on my second try at selling with Oztion and I get plenty of clicks but not many sales. I get the impression that people are looking for $1 bargains. How do I get it across to people that my product is unique, hand made and selling much, much cheaper than through a retial shop? I can't afford a lot of money for extra costings on my listings - any suggestions?

You could try putting a little blurb in your listings (I didn't look so I hope you haven't done it already, lol)
Maybe something like a sales pitch "My products are completly handmade and each one is unique in itself. blah blah blah"
Just so people get the idea. There are plenty of people here who also make their products so they know the cost and time involved. Hang in there.

EDIT:  WOW!!! Nice beads, maybe set out a small, but not too informative, outline on how they are made and time frame.

You have some lovely items listed and wonderful feedback from your buyers, unfortunately not what I buy!
People do not realise the time taken for hand made items, perhaps thats the problem, Marian

Hi, It's pretty quiet everywhere at the moment, the only thing I can suggest is maybe to crop your photos, this will help show up the beads.

All the best with your selling

Hi hotglass,
Had a look at a couple of items (necklace & pendant), very nice work, a couple of things that struck me about your listings for pendants, no size of glass item, try to put in the approximate size EG. 10mm x 2.5mm, as although the item looks great, the size to some would be a factor on whether to buy or not.
In main part of listing, I would include payment detail such as "paypal & direct deposit"  and post costs as some people do not like to have to look for these things, (like to see them straight in front with main part of listing)

With the necklace the listing to me didn't grab me...try experimenting with moving words around, ( read your listing aloud to yourself and see how you feel about it) maybe text colour but don't go overboard with multi-colours,
Good luck and keep plugging away, you have Xmas around the corner.
Cheers.

I am not much of a marketing whiz kid but one thing that strikes me is your photos arent good- they just look like normal beads, arent close up to show the quality/detail and wouldnt attract me as a buyer tbh - the photos look like everyday china mass produced lampwork at expensive prices. For eg something like this would attract me:

I would also put handmade in my title so that people can search that keyword and your listings come up.

OK  You did ask.  (I don't have a shop so cannot comment on that part)

First of all you have FREE POST everyone knows they are paying postage, IMO put the price and the postage seperate, plus you reduce your OZ fee if/when item sells.

Photo:  Too much background, no one wants to know you have a nice table or cloth, it is the item they are looking at.  I looked at a pair of earings only.   Only ONE PHOTO, that one photo needs all background cropped off, then also crop off the ear wires, so lookers get a closer look at the beads, so that makes at least two photos, try to use three photos if you can think of another.

Dliscription: quality sterling silver findings and ear wires.

May be better to write: quality sterling silver findings and silver ear wires, it is not clear that the ear wires are silver.  Are they plated?   if so plated over what?

What size are they (already mentioned)?  You could place a tape measure next to item so it shows in the photo.

How many beads are involved?

What colour are these beads?

Do you offer Registered and/or Express Post?    How will you wrap the earings?  Will they be in a box and/or bubble wrap?

Do you Combine Post?

The item I looked at is BIN only, this makes the item run for 60 days then fall off into unsold, you can also list as Auction & BIn and choose a shorter listing (auto re-list after say 5 or 7 days) this means that your item will come to the top of the list every 5 or 7 days (or what you choose) The system will still re-list them untill the 60 days runs out.  You can, for instance, list as Auction $9.99 and BIN $10.00 or what ever prices you choose. the auction amount does not have to be very different from your BIN price, you just get your items going around more often than 60 days.

I do agree that to make your ad a bit more interesting you could write about how you produce these items.  Such as (and I am guessing here),   You heat treat the glass at XX deg. a mould is used or they are hand moulded, colours are added with natural colours or what ever you use, even a little photo of your working area or one of the tools you use, something to make this idea of hand made more interesting.

I'm not looking at any others, takes up my listing time but I hope that helps.

Oh, one more point, the discription starts off with Stock Clearance, far better to start the title with what you are selling, i.e. Earings.   I don't think many people would do a search for Stock Clearance, more likely to search for Earings,  JMO.

WOW! So many new ideas. I have made notes and will definitely get to work on these things. treauresforyou - I was trying to show the whole piece in my photos and now realise that the beads are the important part, so the whole piece can be my secondary photo......you have helped me see that! cardspark - I will include some measurements!

Goodluck - I wish you well. I also sell handcrafted items and have been trying to get my shop going for the last month.  Just don't expect sales straight away. Oztion is incredibly slow - I have heaps of watchers as well but not many sales. Lots of lovely comments on my work but that's it. Hopefully you will have better luck.
