There
is
some
fictional,
narrative
story
to The
Secret
Diaries
of
an
Alchemist
at
the
beginning
of
the
book,
but
it
serves
only
as
a
sort
of
a
background,
introduction
or
excuse
if
you
like
to
relate
very
vast
esoteric
and
occult
knowledge
of
the
author
to
the
reader.
From
what
I
know
about
Mr.
Lewis
da
Costa
he
was
a
Freemason
of
some
standing,
antiquarian
and
a
researcher
of
the
Bible,
Occult,
Gnosticism
and
various
prophecies
(Nostrodamus
and
others).
Shortly,
one
can
say
that
he
was
a
true
Alchemist
in
the
full
meaning
of
this
word.
He
learned
ancient
Hebrew,
Aramaic,
ancient
Greek
and
ancient
Egyptian
hieroglyphs
in
an
aim
to
be
able
to
study
various
sources
in
their
original
form.
I
can
say
that
this
book
contains
approximately
2%
fiction,
and
98%
are
the
conclusions
of
the
long
years
of
studying
Biblical
and
other
ancient
sources
and
this
part
is
where
Mr.
da
Costa
really
shines.
As
it
says
on
the
back
cover
of
the
book:
"This
is
not
only
the
most
astonishing
and
remarkable
book
you
will
ever
read -
packed
with
previously
unimagined
knowledge
of
alchemy
and
the
esoteric -
it
will
lead
you
to
the
true
philosopher's
stone".
Obviously
some
people
would
say
that
it
is
all
fiction,
but
for
serious
students
of
the
secret
knowledge
that
Mr.
Da
Costa?s
spent
all
his
life
researching,
this
book
(that
in
many
parts
is
controversial)
will
serve
as
very
interesting
and
enlightening
reading.
