One
way
to
tell
is
to
count
the
legs.
If
a
creature
has
six
legs,
it's
an
insect.
If
it
has
fewer
or
more,
it's
some
other
kind
of
animal.
However
leg
counting
only
works
with
fully
grown
or
adult
creatures.
Some
young
forms
of
larvae
later
develop
into
six-legged
insects.
Mites
and
ticks
have
eight
legs.
They're
not
insects.
Ticks
and

mites
cling
onto
larger
animals
and
suck
their
blood.
