1937
crown
is
a
particular
challenge
if it
is sought
after
in
a
high
grade.
The
large
fields
of
this
coin
are
notorious
for
detracting
marks.
Quite
often
"tooth
marks"
are
displayed.
These
are
caused
by
the
handling
process
of
freshly
struck
coins
at
the
mint.
As they
travelled
along
the
conveyor
belt
they
would
drop
onto
a
collection
bucket.
The
reeded
edge
of
the
crown
caused
rim
damage
to
the
coins
already
in
the
bucket. One
could
say
causing
its
own privy
mark
!
