William
(Bill)
Coleman
was
a
Victorian
etcher,
painter
and
illustrator.
He
studied
at
RMIT
from
1940,
under
George
Bell
1948-1954,
worked
with
P
C
Crossier
as
a
photolithographic
and
cartographic
artist
1940-714.
Member
of
the
Victorian
Artists'
Society
and
the
Contemporary
Art
Society.
He
exhibited
widely
one
man
shows
being
held
at:
Parthenon
Gallery,
Melbourne,
Holland
Fine
Art
Society,
Sydney,
Gryphon
Gallery,
Melbourne,
Harmer-Matthew
Gallery,
Sydney
as
well
as
many
group
shows
in
Australia
and
overseas.
A
major
retrospective
exhibition
in
1986
at
the
Bendigo,
Ballarat
and
Sale
Art
Galleries
brought
critical
acclaim.
Coleman's
art
is
highly
collectible,
and
has
risen
steadily
over
the
years.,
particularly
in
the
last
three
years. His
work
is
represented
in
the
New
York
Public
Library
Collection
and
many
regional
and
private
collections.

is

the
