 Description

Up for auction are three neolithic bird point arrow heads.

These originate from the Algerian area of the Saharan Desert and date from the late Neolithic period (4000 - 6000 years old). These are guaranteed 100 % authentic and were purchased originally from a member of the AACA (Authentic Artifact Collectors Association).

They feature a lovely patina and represent a fantastic little mini collection of points from the Sahara in the Late Neolithic period - in all fabulous way to start ot add to a collection of arrowheads or general antiquities.

The Sahara is the world's largest hot desert, over 9,000,000 square km, almost as large as the united States. The Shara is located in northern Africa and is 2.5 million years old. The boundaries of the Sahara are the Atlantic Ocean on the west, the Atlas Mountaain and the Mediteranian Sea on the north, the Red Sea and Egypt on the east, and the Sudan and the valley of the Niger River on the south. The Sahara is divided into western Sahara, the central Ahagga Mountains, the Tibesti Mountains, the Air Mountains, Tenere desert and Libyan desert. The highest peak in the Sahara in Emi Koussi (3415 m) in the Tibesti Mountains in northern Chad. The Sahara divides the continent of Africa into North and Sub-Saharan Africa. The southern border of the Sahara is marked by a band of semiarid savanna called the Sahel; south of the Sahel lies the lusher Sudan and the Congo River Basin.

During the Late Neolithic period (approximately 4000BC - 2000BC) the Sahara had a much wetter climate and was akin to modern day North America.

Arrowheads are typically collected and traded by the local nomaid peoples of the Sahara, who find them as the sand dunes moved and they travel around seasonally grazing their heards. Finding and collecting items such as these provides them with a reasonable, stable income.

The buyer will receive three different points similar to those shown in the image.

This a rare opportunity to buy these items, as they are not often found within Australia. Grab them while you can!

Postage: Non breakable items (for example, clothing) are dispatched in either 500 g or 3 kg satchels, depending on weight, and there is no surcharge for multiple purchases in the one package.
