TIPS
1)
Follow
the
sun:
move
the
tank
to
a
good
winter
sun
area
when
the
days
begin
to
shorten.
2)
Drain
the
tank
at
least
once
a
month
and
replenish
it
with
fresh
water
and
nutrient.
3)
Plants
that
like
a
lot
of
water,
such
as
watercress,
wasabi
and
mint,
can
be
grown
bare
rooted
(without
clay)
in
the
sump
at
the
high
bridge
end.
4)
If
planting
seeds,
simply
sprinkle
them
on
top
of
the
expanded
clay.
Run
your
hand
gently
over
the
clay
causing
the
seeds
to
fall
into
the
cracks.
Then
very
gently
water
the
seeds.
5)
If
planting
seedlings
from
punnets,
wash
most
of
the
soil
away
from
the
roots.
6)
It’s
a
good
habit
to
adjust
the
pH
to
6
after
adding
water
each
week.
7)
It’s
not
necessary
to
add
extra
nutrient
every
time
you
top
up
the
water.
8)
In
summer
plants
will
use
more
water.
Larger
plants
such
as
beans,
tomatoes
and
cucumbers
will
need
additional
support
such
as
stakes,
frames
or
bobbins.
9)
Most
plants
will
grow
fastest
at
around
24
-
28º
Celcius
(80
-
92º
Fahrenheit).
You
can
control
this
in
cold
weather
by
introducing
a
200
watt
submersible
aquarium
heater
set
at
25º
Celcius.
10)
Remove
dead
and
fallen
leaves
regularly.
11)
A
drainage
tap
can
be
fitted
to
either
end
of
the
tank
for
easy
cleaning.
12)
Newly
transplanted
plants
require
some
shade
in
very
hot
weather.
