This
chair
back
cover
was
crocheted
by
my
Grandmother
(Lily
Barbara
Daniels)
for
my
Mum
in
1960
when
Mum
was
first
married.
They
were
an
incredibly
standard
household
item
intended
to
gracefully
protect
your
furnishings
from
the
brylcreem
men
used
lavishly
on
their
hair.
Grandma
was
a
master
seamstress
(all
the
women
apart
from
my
sister
and
myself
are/were).
She
worked
in
London
for
a
dressmaker
to
the
Royal
Family
and
later
doing
the
fine
work
on
childrens
clothes.
Her
specialities
were
Embroidery,
Bobbin
Lace
-
Torchon
and
Honiton,
Crochet
and
Tatting.
She
pretty
much
turned
her
hand
at
everything
and
was
a
well
respected
crafts
woman.
Mum
is
clearing
out
a
few
treasures
(see
my
other
chair
back
listing),
all
extremely
finely
made.
There
is
so
much,
far
to
much
to
keep
every
little
bit.....
so
watch
this
space
there
will
be
more
treasures
coming
soon. This
is
ivory
cream
cotton,
in
perfect
condition.
45cm
x
28cm. This
item
is
at
my
Mum's
in
Perth
so
you
will
not
be
able
to
combine
post
with
many
of
my
other
items...
sorry
about
that.
