What you're getting for Christmas

Australia's second largest online auction website highlight the top ten best selling items for Christmas 2008

Melbourne, AUSTRALIA, 19th December 2008 -- OZtion, Australia's second largest online auction website, has revealed the most popular gifts for men, women, and children that have been purchased on their site in the run up to Christmas 2008.

OZtion's sales throughout November and December reveal that the Nintendo DS, games and accessories were the most popular items this year, outselling the other rival consoles by a large margin.

Men around Australia can expect plenty of DVDs under the Christmas tree, mostly from the TV shows /series and comedy genres, while women can look forward to opening jewellery, although the fastest selling female item has been shoulder bags and handbags.

While the top ten most popular items contain a large amount of electronic equipment, the veteran children's toy, Lego, has also been a very popular, being the number one toy sold through OZtion during this period.

Philip Druce, co-founder of OZtion, said "There has been some subtle changes to what sold well in 2007. The Nintendo DS has replaced MP3 players as this Christmas's must have item, with other electronic items like Mobile phones and GPS Sat Nav devices also entering the top ten. The most popular women's items are bags, both shoulderbags and handbags, as well as a jewellery for a lot of lucky people."

Druce added, "I was excited to see my personal favourite from when I was a boy, Lego, included and faring well against all the new technology, as well as Bratz Dolls, which have been a favourite for the girls. A large number of people have gone for gift vouchers this year, which will ensure people will be able to purchase what they really need after Christmas."
