An epic on an intimate scale, Memoirs of a Geisha takes the reader behind the rice-paper screens of the geisha house to a vanished floating world of beauty and cruelty, from a poor fishing village in 1929 to the decadence of 1940s Kyoto, through the chaos of World War II to the towers of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, where the gray-eyed geisha Sayuri unfolds the remarkable story of her life.

Newsday

As close to un-put-downable as any novel in years, yet bristling with intelligence and grace. Wow!

Biography

Arthur Golden was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and was educated at Harvard College, where he received a degree in art history, specializing in Japanese art. BIDDERS Please Make Note Of The Following BEFORE Bidding :

IMPORTANT: Buyer to make contact within 3 days, transaction to be finalised within 7 days please! Communication is the key...just let me know what you are thinking/doing, so I know too please! I'm sorry to say that Negative feedback will be left for non-payers after it happening too many times! But very positive feedback left for good transactions i.e. fast contact and fast payment.

Postage and handling for this item is listed . I use pre-paid satchels as the cheapest option, unless an item does not fit in this and then I have to resort to AusPosts standard parcel rates (more expensive). I take care in packaging all my shipments and bubble wrap books, and protect clothing to look after your purchase.

Western Australia (Perth Metro 50km) is a little cheaper with a flat postage rate by standard parcel post. There's gotta be some advantage to living west of the rabbit proof fence!

Combining shipping: I will happily combine shipping;

OVERSEAS shipping: is much more expensive... please enquire before bidding as prices start from around $10 for shipping 250grams to the U.S.A. for instance.

Payment: For Australian buyers I prefer Direct Deposit into my bank account, alternatively payment via Money Order is fine. I DO NOT accept Personal cheques, simply because it takes too long to finalise transactions.

PAYPAL PAYMENTS: are accepted from Australian bidders for purchases over $10 only.

Any other queries, please don't hesitate to ask!
