This
bicycle
up
for
auction
is
a
genuine
German
Made
Rabeniek
Spezial
3
Speed
Step
Through
ladies
road
bike.
At
a
guess
and
after
a
few
Google
sessions,
I
am
pretty
sure
that
this
particular
model
was
made
between
the
early
1960s
and
early
1980s.
This
bike
is
anything
up
to
almost
50
years
old
and
despite
its
possible
age
is
in
great
condition.
Rabeniek
has
been
around
since
before
World
War
Two,
where
they
made
motorised
bicycles
for
getting
around
the
small
towns
of
country
Germany.
The
British
cottoned
on
to
this
idea
as
a
great
way
to
get
around
country
towns
and
started
to
make
them
under
license.
Rabeniek
continues
to
make
high
end
bicycles
today
and
the
never
'sold
out'
like
so
many
bicycle
manufacturers
have
(particularly
some
well
known
Australian
brands)
to
make
'cheap'
versions
made
in
China.
This
'Deadly
Treadly'
is
no
exception.
With
an
old
school
dual
tube
step
through
frame,
large
700C
(28")
alloy
wheels,
and
fully
sprung
seat,
it
cruises
comfortably
along
the
roughest
roads.
Also,
at
a
starting
price
comparable
to
a
cheap
chinese
knockoff
from
a
discount
chain
store,
you
can
be
riding
a
piece
of
cycling
history.
This
bicycle
was
my
own
'daily
rider'
until
a
back
injury
stopped
cycling
as
a
pastime.
(Now
looking
for
a
more
stable
20"
or
24"
wheeled
tricycle)
and
the
new
owner
will
not
be
disappointed.
Admittedly
it
could
do
with
some
work
(adjusting
the
brakes
and
gears,
front
puncture
repair,
maybe
a
bit
of
a
touch
up.)
but
overall
the
condition
of
this
bike
would
be
described
as
rideable
and
fair
to
good.
The
frame
and
guards
(full
size
guards
too!
Since
when
could
you
get
those
on
a
bike
from
a
discount
store)
do
have
a
bit
of
surface
rust
but
nothing
structural.
The
front
bearings
and
steering
head
bearings
have
been
flushed,
greased,
and
re
packed.
It
is
fitted
with
original
6
volt
lighting
system
with
wiring
through
the
frame
that
works
when
a
6
volt
battery
applied
but
is
missing
its
dynamo.
It
even
has
a
rear
parking
brake!
The
old
skirt
guards
(YES
I
said
right)
are
included
but
the
frame
is
the
only
good
part
of
them,
a
handyman
(or
woman)
could
easily
insert
some
new
perspex
and
re
attach
them.
Buy
it
now
price
reflects
current
sale
prices
on
similar
age
/
condition
/
manufacturer
bikes
on
an
auction
site
of
which
we
cant
speak
its
name.
I
was
quite
surprised
at
how
much
these
bikes
sell
for.
But
a
quick
sale
is
a
good
sale
so
starting
bid
is
set
at
less
than
a
third
of
that.

deliver
to
anywhere
on
the
southern
Queensland
coast
as
far
as
Brisbane

substantial

be

delivery).

pursuade
my
Husband
into
partially
dismantling
this
bike
for
transport,
and/or
packaging
it
up
for
a
courier
to
pick
up
for
you.
