If anyone were to call Dan Becker a hero, he'd deny it till his last breath. He's as stubborn as the day is long, and the only thing more ornery is his no-good horse. They'd both be very happy if folks would just leave them alone. It's not Becker's fault that those two females ran into trouble just when he rode into town. But now the McCray sisters are making like he did something special by rescuing them, and he doesn't like it one bit. Becker can't wait to get out of town. He's not afraid of Dutch Ketchum, the man who wants the McCray's land - it's Laura McCray, the fiery older sister, who is causing him grief. Laura's temper makes his fool roan look like an angel, but Becker can't leave till he's sure the women are safe - and till that lousy Ketchum gets what is coming to him. Poor Becker...his problems are just beginning. Between the flying bullets and the alluring Laura, seems he's a dead man one way or the other!
