Description:

BEFORE YOU THINK THIS IS A LOT OF MONEY FOR SOME SMALL PIECES OF WOOD, THINK AGAIN!

THESE 6 LACE BOBBINS ORIGINATE FROM MALTA, AN ISLAND WORLD RENOWNED FOR ITS FINE INTRICATE BOBBIN LACE.

THESE BOBBINS BELONGED TO MY MALTESE MUM, WHO HAS DECIDED TO SELL THEM.

THEIR ESTIMATED DATE IS AROUND 1880, BUT COULD POSSIBLY BE EARLIER.

I HAVE HAD THEM VERBALLY AUTHENTICATED AND APPRAISED, APPROXIMATELY 3 YEARS AGO BY AN AWARD WINNING LACE AND ANTIQUES TEXTILES SPECIALIST.

AT THAT STAGE THEY WERE VALUED @ $100 EACH.

MY ONLY REGRET WAS THAT I DIDN'T WRITE DOWN THE NAME OF THE WOOD THEY ARE MADE FROM. POSSIBLY OLIVE TREE BUT I CANNOT BE SURE.

MALTESE BOBBINS ARE HAND-TURNED AND UNSPANGLED LIKE THOSE FROM OTHER COUNTRIES.

CONDITION:
THEY ARE ALL IN GREAT CONDITION FOR THEIR AGE, BUT THEY COULD DO WITH A FRACTION OF OIL TO PRESERVE THE WOOD FURTHER.

SIZE: THE BOBBINS VARY, RANGING FROM 10.5CM LONG TO 12CM LONG

A slight difference of up to $2.00 in postage paid, is taken up in packaging and handling, as I do not charge extra for this service, other than 50c for vacuum sealing. Any greater amounts will be refunded.

To keep costs at a minimal, I use recycled materials when possible. Breakable items may incur an extra charge for secure packing. This may or may not increase postage figure on listings, buyers will be notified via invoice if there is any change
