Lip Balm Recipe
Ingredients 5 grams liquid oil (eg sweet almond, jojoba) 3 grams beeswax 2 grams butter (eg cocoa, shea) 6 drops flavour or essential oil (optional) 2 drops vitamin e (optional preservative) 2 x 4.5g lip balm tubes or 1 x 10g lip pot Method 1. Place all of the ingredients in a microwave safe bowl and heat on low until ingredients have melted. Alternatively heat in a double boiler until melted. Beeswax will be last to melt so I usually melt the others then take the bowl out of the microwave and swirl around until wax has melted. This ensures the oils do not overheat. DO NOT OVERHEAT OILS OR LEAVE UNATTENDED AS THEY MAY CAUSE A FIRE. 2. This basic recipe will make a honey smelling lip balm. You can also add melted chocolate, spices, flavour oils or some essential oils like peppermint. Not all essential oils are suitable for lip balm so please check first. These can be added now. Also add Vitamin E now if using. 3. Use an eyedropper/pipette to pour into lip balm tubes or pots. Use when set.

Potpourri Recipe
Potpourri - Makes around 2 cups Ingredients 3/4 cup rose petals 1/2 cup hibiscus petals 1/8 cup juniper berries 1/4 cup star anise 1/8 cup paeona root 1 cinnamon stick broken up 1/2 tbls calamus root powder (fixative) Few drops of essential or fragrance oil if desired Method 1. Place all but the last two ingredients in a bowl and lightly mix together. Add the calamus root powder (this is a fixative which helps hold all of the fragrances together) and if you like add a few drops of essential or fragrance oil. Do not add too much as it may overpower the natural fragrance. 2. Put into a glass airtight container and leave ideally for about 4 weeks, lightly turning over the ingredients every few days to help the fragrances mix together. 3. When ready display in a nice bowl or put into cellophane or organza bags if giving as a gift. You can also place it in an organza bag and hang it in your cupboard, drawer or car.
