The 1937 and 1938 Commemorative Crown
The 1937 and 1938 Crown were Australia's first 5/- Shilling value Crown. Both had limited mintage with the 1938 having the lowest mintage and thus, the higher scarcity - hence the higher value. Large and unpopluar at the time many Crowns were thrown into melting pots for their silver content (92%) both back in the 1930's and during the frenzy of silver prices in the 1970's. shop banner!

Australian Medallions and Tokens
Australia has a rich history of Medallions and Tokens which were used for advertising, commerce and trade and in the very early days tokens were a form of currency. I use Carlisle 2008 as a reference for discriptions and values.

What's a variety/error coin?
A variety or error coin is one that has differences that are sometimes unique, but are more often 'mint die' errors/faults and you can collect mutiples of such errors. Variety coins can have a premium because of the scarcity and collectability factors! I use Lever, Dean and Rennicks as reference books.

The Humble Aussie Penny
The Humble Aussie Penny comes in beautiful arrays of colours. As the coin ages the copper and base metal mix forms a beautiful 'patina' which can vary from brilliant oranges and reds through to colourful rainbow tones. The 1964 Perth Penny is a treaure for such collections. I personally own around 200 1964 pennies with differing colours on each one. An inexpensive way to have a fine and colourful penny collection!
